About The Event

The 29th coronation anniversary celebrates the enthronement of the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II since 1st July 1993.

It is a key calendar event within the Kingdom which showcases the milestones, culture and traditions that have been preserved by the Kingdom since its re-establishment in 1993.

During the ceremony, The Kabaka of Buganda requested government through various avenues to help improve coffee production in the country.

His message on the need of protecting local coffee stakeholders was strong and clear for all to hear! It was a validation of our view in Parliament that the coffee sector needs structure rather than the stampede that the government had chosen to impose on all subjects through patronage.

Giving coordinated leadership to the sector, as His Majesty has directed, improves the spirits of stakeholders, particularly farmers, who believe that their problems are valid.

Attempts to shortchange local stakeholders through patronized phantom investors would not serve the purposes of justice, particularly for the suffering farmers.

The Kabaka thanked all who have heeded the Katikkiro (Prime Minister of Buganda) CP Mayiga’s call to grow coffee. He urged all to engage in growing coffee to reduce household poverty and grow the economy.
